Directing a hilarious toast to the classic ‘B’ movies of Hollywood in its heyday, Stanley Donen recaptures the spirit of the Thirties’ double-bills in the form of two movies starring screen legend George C. Scott, with an old-fashioned intermission between the films. Movie Movie, written by Sheldon Keller and Larry Gelbart (M.A.S.H.) was nominated for numerous awards at both the Golden Globes and the Berlin Film Festival, with the Writers Guild of America awarding the film a WGA Screen Award.

Dynamite Hands is a black-and-white fight feature that tells the story of Joey Popchick, a Hungarian immigrant whose younger sister needs $25,000 for an eye operation. Boxing trainer Gloves Malloy tells Joey that he could become a fighter in order to raise the money, a plan that works perfectly until Joey is told that he must take a fall in a fight – one on which, he learns, his parents have bet everything on him to win! Come the evening of the fight, Joey has to do the right thing...

Baxter’s Beauties of 1933 is a glorious colour feature about Broadway producer Spats Baxter, a theatrical genius with a heart of gold – and an incurable disease. Baxter spends his last days staging his best show ever. He wants the proceeds to go towards anonymously supporting his daughter, who believes she’s an orphan. Although fraught with difficulties, the show is a roaring success, and, in true Hollywood style, there are love and miracles still in store for Spats and his daughter.
