REVIEW

Peter Hall stylishly directs this quirky crime caper from the pen of noted television crime dramatist C. Scott Forbes. Showcasing a sparklingly cool score by Johnny Dankworth this elegant exercise in triple crossing takes a quirkily metropolitan look at the bank heist genre, with Alan Hume's energetic cinematography (reminiscent of The Sweeney and other Euston FIlms productions) capturing post-swinging London in all its tatty glory.

The always watchable Stanley Baker once again successfully plays against type as a timid bank manager while a never-better Ursula Andress both trades on and subverts her sex symbol status to great effect. It's David Warner, however, who takes acting honours here with a nonchalantly truculent performance which ranks amongst the best of his career.
