Tarka the Otter: Special Edition
Considered to be one of the greatest animal films ever, complemented with a narration by the legendary Peter Ustinov (Spartacus, Logan’s Run), Network is delighted to announce the release of family favourite Tarka the Otter on 17th July 2006.
Filmed over a period of two years, and co-scripted by famous naturalist Gerald Durrell (My Family and other Animals), Tarka the Otter follows the life of a young Otter as he struggles to survive following the death of his mother, meets Whitetip, a young female otter, and comes face-to-face with the fearsome Deadlock – the otter-hound that killed his mother. Set in the 1920s – a time when otter-hunting was still legal – and based on the novel by Henry Williamson, the story of Tarka the Otter has enthralled children the world over.
A family favourite since its original 1978 release, the story of Tarka the Otter has continued to captivate both children and adults, and this DVD release will bring the magical story to a whole new generation of people.
This special edition contains an image gallery, an episode of Clapperboard on the making of Tarka and archive interviews with the director.
