In 1931 the most unlikely troupe of entertainers came together – comprising of three double acts of pensioners and a slapstick maestro and comedy juggler of the first order. Known collectively as ‘The Crazy Gang’ this well loved group became a comedy phenomenon, packing theatres and appearing in hit films for 30 years.
The Crazy Gang take every opportunity to help out the war effort - and get it disastrously wrong! Assigned to barrage balloon duties to protect the skies from Hitler’s Luftwaffe, a sudden gust of wind sweeps their balloon away up into the sky - with the gang still clinging hold of the ropes!
Their journey ends when they land on the Western Front and are taken to a concentration camp. But inside the POW camp they learn of a dastardly German secret weapon - and must risk everything to get back to Blighty with the news! Expecting to be treated as heroes upon their return to England, the Gang are shocked to find themselves landed in jail for taking the balloon.
Made in 1940 and starring the cream of British comedy talent, GASBAGS captures the legendary Crazy Gang at their very best - larking about and defying Adolf!
