In search of relative comfort…
Noah Render (Elias Koteas), an insurance adjuster, goes beyond the call of duty in his job - in his attempts to repair the lives of others, Noah fails to see his own life falling apart. He helps Arianne (Jennifer Dale), whose house has burnt down and has nothing and Arianne makes Noah see that there is joy in having nothing and in starting over.
Noah’s wife, Hera (Arsinée Khanjian), also becomes increasingly disillusioned with her job as a film classification censor and Noah and Hera realise that, although they have everything, they have less than Noah’s clients.
A compelling story of sex, life and personal worth, THE ADJUSTER won multiple awards on its cinematic release, including the Special Jury Prize at the 1991 Moscow International Film Festival. THE ADJUSTER is Cairo-born director Atom Egoyan’s fourth feature film – a film which confirmed his status as the premier director of the art film set and showed him to be a consistent winner of awards, of which he has won many throughout his career, including four Best Canadian Feature Film awards at the Toronto International Film Festival, multiple Genie Awards, the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and an Academy Award nomination for Best Director (the last two for THE SWEET HEREAFTER).
This digitally remastered film also includes the original theatrical trailer and an audio commentary with writer/director Atom Egoyan.
