Enemy at the Door: The Complete Series

The only piece of British soil to be occupied by the Germans during World War II, the Channel Islands are the setting for Enemy at the Door - a gripping and sometimes harrowing account of the appalling dilemmas and daily hardships faced by the Islanders living under Nazi rule.

Focussing particularly on the experience of the Martels, a Guernsey family, this acclaimed series stars Bernard Horsfall as Dr. Philip Martel, with Alfred Burke (Public Eye) as Major Richter and Simon Cadell as the brutal, ambitious SS Hauptsturmführer Reinicke. This complete-series set contains every episode of Enemy at the Door, originally screened between 1978 and 1980 and produced by Michael Chapman (The Bill) and Tony Wharmby (Supernatural, Bones).

    Enemy at the Door

This world war II drama is fantastic. Secret Army & Colditz are always set as the benchmark of how to make gripping TV of the era. However Enemy at the Door is up there with those BBC shows. With great actors Alfred Burke as Richter & Simon Cadell as Sturmbannführer Reinicke you have some great personas played out alongside some great scripts by N.J Crisp.

Favorite episode has to be the interplay in 'The Prussian Officer' between Reinicke & Hauptmann von Bulow, played by Terrence Hardiman - with the testy Reinicke being put on the back foot.

Dont miss out on this Gem.
