Stanley Baxter Collection (The)
Enjoy classic comedy with the first of two releases showcasing the outrageously funny Scottish comedian Stanley Baxter. Baxter, who – like Ronnie Barker – went into self-imposed retirement in the late 1980s, is fondly remembered for his risqué humour (he scandalised Mary Whitehouse) and his wickedly funny impressions (he was the first person ever to do an impersonation of the Queen on television).
This first release concentrates on the one-hour specials that he did for ITV in the 1970s and early 1980s, which won numerous awards, including several BAFTAs.
This classic comedy release will appeal to people who enjoy sketch humour shows, impressionists (such as Mike Yarwood, Rory Bremner and Alistari McGowan) and archive television fans. This set contains the following episodes:
• The Stanley Baxter Big Picture Show (21/12/73)
• The Stanley Baxter Moving Picture Show (07/09/74)
• The Stanley Baxter Show Part III (19/09/75)
• Stanley Baxter’s Christmas Box (26/12/76)
• Stanley Baxter on Television (01/04/79)
• The Stanley Baxter Hour (24/12/82)
