Hadleigh: The Complete Series
Gerald Harper (Adam Adamant Lives!) stars as debonair young landowner James Hadleigh. A unique character - charming, energetic and possessed of a sharp intelligence - he has inherited, amongst other things, the magnificent Melford Hall in his beloved native Yorkshire, and the proprietorship of the Westdale Gazette. Though Hadleigh is a man accustomed to total privilege, his life is not without its challenges, and this classic ITV series follows his mixed fortunes - from his often-turbulent relationships to his battles to save Melford itself.
With high-calibre guests such as Kenneth Cranham, Peter Sallis, Stephanie Beacham, Nigel Hawthorne and Brian Blessed, scripts by, among others, Alfred Shaughnessy (Upstairs, Downstairs) and Ian Kennedy-Martin (The Sweeney), and a production team that included Terence Williams (Juliet Bravo) and director Tony Wharmby (Enemy at the Door), Hadleigh was a huge, long-running success for ITV. For the fi rst time, this complete set brings together all four series, originally screened between 1969 and 1976.
