The Headless Ghost

One of the first films made in Britain by B-movie maestro Herman Cohen, The Headless Ghost is an entertaining example of the teen-horror genre emerging with Cohen’s 1957 classic I Was a Teenage Werewolf. Involving the adventures of three young thrill-seekers investigating a haunted castle, the film boasts an early role for New Zealand-born Clive Revill and a sensational dance sequence featuring Josephine Blake; it is presented here in a brand-new transfer from the original film elements in its as-exhibited theatrical aspect ratio.

While holidaying in Britain, exchange students Bill, Ronnie and Ingrid visit Ambrose Castle, the 14th-century home of the impoverished 12th Earl of Ambrose – reputedly haunted by the 4th Earl, and Malcolm, the Headless Ghost, who lost his head leading a rebellion. Ronnie, who plans to write a story based on the visit for his college paper, persuades fellow-American Bill and the Danish Ingrid to hide with him in the castle, in order to spend the night investigating...
